Qatar and Egypt have pledged to deepen their partnership by enhancing cooperation in critical areas such as the economy, investments, and labor. This commitment was made during a meeting in Cairo between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, and Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty. The discussions took place during the seventh session of the Qatari-Egyptian Joint Higher Committee, highlighting the ongoing efforts to boost ties between the two nations.
Economic relations between Qatar and Egypt have seen substantial growth, with bilateral trade experiencing an 80 percent increase by 2025. Both sides expressed satisfaction with this upward trend and emphasized the significance of Qatari investments in Egypt, including a notable project aimed at producing sustainable aviation fuel within the Suez Canal Economic Zone. This project is seen as a key initiative in fostering sustainable economic development in the region.
The meeting also touched upon crucial aspects of labor and consular cooperation, alongside discussions on regional issues. Both countries reaffirmed their dedication to reducing regional tensions and promoting stability, particularly in relation to Gaza. They underscored the necessity of diplomatic solutions to address regional conflicts, which remains a shared objective in their foreign policy agendas.
In addition to these discussions, Qatar and Egypt stressed the importance of maritime security and the freedom of navigation in the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea. This focus is critical to ensuring the protection of international trade routes and maintaining regional stability, marking it as a priority area for continued collaboration.
